What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. Last week, my husband and I made a pretty substantial bonfire. This past winter, we had some storms that came through with very heavy now. This resulted in a number of sizable tree limbs falling in our backyard. So we worked on breaking down the limbs and had a fire that evening. We brought the kids out and roasted marshmallows and snuggled up to watch the fire as it got dark. I’m so grateful that I can give them evenings like that one.” Continue reading “How to Make Nothing in Your 20s”

What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. Many weekends, I wake up with a desire to make a specific breakfast pastry. But somehow, in my 32 years on this planet, I’ve yet to make cinnamon rolls. Until this past weekend! I found a recipe that had lots of rave reviews, and set to work. I mixed, kneaded, waited, sprinkled, rolled, and baked for about 2 hours. And in the end, the result was everything I’d dreamed it would be. And I made enough to store a few extra uncooked rolls in the freezer so I can have fresh-baked rolls at a moment’s notice!” Continue reading “How to Make It Through Depression”

What I Made This Week:

Joey’s hair was out of control this day.

From the transcript: “And now, I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. I made a sizable addition to my knitting stash. This past weekend was the Knit North Yarn Crawl that had nine participating shops north of Boston. Each shop had special promotions and sales for the four-day event. So one morning, I hopped in the car with my son and we drove to all nine stores. The big find of the day was twelve skeins of yarn I bought to finally make my family’s Christmas stockings. Joey was a hit in each shop and had so much fun meeting all of the other crawlers, most of whom were grandmothers who were happy to have a toddler around to fawn over.” Continue reading “How to Make Italian Easter Pie”

What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now, I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. I made a home away from home for my family. This past weekend, we spent a few days up in the White Mountains to ski and spend time with my husband’s family. We were staying in a big ski lodge and had an entire floor to ourselves. Making the space inviting, familiar, and fun for my two toddlers was a challenge that totally paid off. They had a great weekend and both put on a pair of skis for the first time.” Continue reading “How to Make an EP”

What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now, I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. This past weekend, after Chuck and Diane left to drive home, we got some snow here by our house and that morning we went outside to make snowmen and snow angels. The snowmen didn’t go so well. It wasn’t quite the right snow for that. But we did manage to get in the snow for some snow angels. And we made some big piles of snow at the base of some of our slides in the backyard and she had a great time sliding down into them. It was really wonderful watching her experience the snow for one of the first times. We’ve had a lot of snow storms since she was born, but not all of them have created snow that she could really get out and play in. So standing out there and watching her explore the snow the way I remember doing when I was little was really special.” Continue reading “How to Make a Legacy”

What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now, I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. Well, am making. I’m currently working on creating a real website for the podcast. Right now, my good friend Greg Thole is helping me by hosting the podcast and has built me a really nice website for the streaming of the podcast itself. However, it’s kind of limited in what kind of content I can share on it beyond just the podcast itself and some brief descriptions. So I wanted to put together something a little bit more comprehensive that would allow me to create show notes with really beautiful images and share more information on a regular basis about the things that I’m making and the things that are being made by people who I feature on the show. I also want to be able to provide transcripts of each episode for those who want to experience the podcast but can’t listen to it in an audio form. So I’ve been working really hard on transcribing past episodes and getting together a plan for creating content on a regular basis. I’m very lucky in that I have a lot of champions. People who are happily helping me on this journey. This is not something that comes naturally to me and so I’m learning a lot as I go. And I want to thank every single person who has helped me as I’ve worked to get this off the ground. Specifically a past guest on the show, Arianna, who does social media for a living and very graciously sat down and talked to me for about an hour about how to approach social media from a professional standpoint. I found that conversation to be really invaluable. So hopefully that’ll be up in the next few weeks and I’ll share lots of information with you in a future episode about how you can find that” Continue reading “How to Make Makers”

What I Made This Week:

From the transcript: “And now I’d like to tell you about something I made this week. I’ve been working on getting the kids’ Christmas gifts finished up. I picked out a really cute hooded cowl for Emma and knit that up last week. It’s made with rainbow colored yarn and looks like a fairy hat. For Joey, I’m in the middle of assembling a busy book for him. It’s made mostly of felt and has lots of little activities to keep him busy on long car rides. Are you making any gifts this season?” Continue reading “How to Make Holiday Traditions”
